I get this question a lot. And, I truly understand the concern, but I usually do a “first look”, which is the moment when the couple sees each other for the first time. I do this because in my 10 plus years as a wedding photojournalist, I’ve found that doing couple portraits before the wedding is important because that’s the moment when the two of you get to spend some time together before the excitement of the day begins, and this is when I love to capture the love and joy between two people who are about to move forward together.
Also, many brides prefer to see their fiance and have photos taken before the wedding because that’s the time when they’re makeup is still picture perfect and they like having their photo taken before their polished look turns into tears, runny mascara and a dress they’ve worn all day long.
